Do you want me to walk you through my process? I don't use painting filters. I open the image in photoshop, put a texture filter on to give it a canvas look. I choose a brush, called the mixer brush tool. Change the setting to wet and sample all the layers. Doing this causes the picture when you begin to paint a painted look. I eyedrop every single color in the photo and begin painting. That's my process. I spent countless hours making paintings like this and I've never even heard of a painting fliter before!
I'm a graphic designer who goes to PTI, or pittsburgh technical institute. In my second semester, they teach us how to make digital paintings. That was their teaching process, and that's what i've been doing for the past year. If other people frown upon the way they do paintings, then fine. But that's how I learned, and that's what I'll always do.
